PARIS by Debra Moreland

Below are some photos from our fabulous PARIS Trunk Show this month... the wonderful Debra Moreland, desinger of the collection, was the true star of the show. She worked with each girl in some capacity and it was so magical watching her create such unique looks for everyone... the thing I admire most, (ok, one of the things I admire most -- there are many) is the fact that she truly listens, anticipates, and creates for each bride. She has a series of questions that she which allows her to pull just the right piece -- and most times the first one is spot on. There were many times throughout the weekend that she did complete couture pieces -- meaning she actually created something custom right then and there... it will be exciting seeing those finished products

Also, from a retailer's standpoint, she is truly one of a kind. Debra actually started out as a retailer and then went into manufacturing so she understands the importance of things like product quality standards, communication with stores and clients, and cost control. As a client, we always know that we are getting a product of the upmost quality and a true hand crafted piece for each of our brides.

Take a peek below at a few of my favorite photos from the weekend...

Here is Debra helping one of my favorite brides... can you see why? Hello! How cute is that Russian tulle veil?? (by the way, its called a 'snood')

Beautiful Paris Goodies!

Our New Years Resolution: Blogging!

Hello my lovely brides and friends (and MOB's and MOH's and MOG's and SOB's and the list goes on...) Starting in 2008, I hope that this will be a blog that you will enjoy often... The format will change, as of Janurary 1st, to a much more interactive, bridal fashion, informational, just plain fun to read spot to stop on your daily "blog cruise". Just hit us every day for a quick look at whats happening... this will be industry related in most cases... we are planning to interview many vendors and designers and editors and such in order to gain some insight to this facinating world of designer bridal. Please feel free to email us or leave a comment for us if there is anything in particular that you'd like to see posted... As a bonus, we go to New York Bridal Fashion Week in April and October and we plan to blog daily through the week to keep you in the loop and among the FIRST to see whats up and coming. Not to mention we'll post about the fabulous parties and celebrity sightings... what more could one ask for? Its like the USWeekly of the Bridal Biz! (Note: the next Market is April 12-15) In all seriousness, I hope that you will enjoy our little thread of thoughts and gain some knowledge at the same time... Check back soon and often!

New Designer at The Bride Room: Augusta Jones

COME SEE THE NEW COLLECTION:
October 5th and 6th
By appointment only
Call Now 615-297-9899

The Augusta Jones style is defined by contemporary clean lines with a twist - usually in the form of an unexpected bejeweled detail. Started in early 1999 by Charlotte Leung, her wedding dress label "Augusta Jones", set out to do things differently. She needed a range of bridal gowns that would fulfill three basic requirements: beautiful styling; flexibility of the range to suit a variety of shapes; and affordability. The dilemma was finding an existing line that could fulfill all three criteria. In the end she decided to design a small line for her own shop to offer brides these options. So successful was her initial collection that she launched the range in England in September 1999. The label is now available in over 150 shops worldwide.

Born in Denmark to a Danish mother and British Chinese father, she divides her time living and working between London and Hong Kong. After her first collection, Charlotte Leung teamed up with her stepmother, June Leung, an award-winning designer in her own right. June Leung brought her passion for art deco and period piece jewelry to the collection - very much in evidence by the extravagant detailing found in key pieces. They spend their time between the sample room and equally important, travelling the world for inspiration.

Successful from the start, this young company has been awarded three British Bridal finalist awards within the first two years of introducing the label. Their work is regularly featured editorially in Cosmopolitan Bride, Brides, Wedding & Home, You and Your Wedding and Wedding Day.

A Night To Remember....

We did it!

The Open House and Fashion Show was wonderful and hopefully enjoyed by all...

As the evening began, the guests entered through a white tent with chiffon draping and chandelier by Signature Tent that displayed 4 fabulous table settings designed by James Brown... James worked closely with Joan from Geny's Wholesale Flowers, BBJ Linens and Kitty Hobbs for each of the four themed tables... the placesettings were designed with various famous and familiar faces and groups of aquaintences (my favorite being the "English Garden" set for Victoria & David and Katie and Tom... (that's Beckham and Cruise!)... after a stop at the bar for a Little Black Dress Chardonnay or The Bride Room's specialty "Cocktail Couture" supplied by Lipman Brothers, the guests made their way through the tent to a precious display of cupcakes by Tea & Co. .... Next was the grand entrance into The Bride Room, set up for display of their favorite gowns and welcoming everyone to mingle and munch on southern selections by Constant Cravings Caterers while viewing the collections... In the courtyard, the red carpet was set for a show with white chairs from Signature Events, that lined the runway -- a scene straight from New York! The lights strung in the courtyard created the perfect ambiance for a fun, casual, show...music was mixed on site by Lewis Lee Productions and set a great tone for the show... There were 3 flower girls that started the show and 35 wedding gowns were shown by Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, Melissa Sweet, Vineyard Collection, Augusta Jones and Watters Brides...the beautiful models had their make up done by Mac Cosmetics and were catching the eye of our runway greeters suited by Street Tuxedo.

Please check out the wonderful pictures by Michael Howard Photography and be on the look out for the great footage by McNeal Video...coming soon...

We are so thankful for all that attended and appreciate your support! Yes, we did it....but couldn't of done it without all of you...

Melissa Sweet Spring Runway Collection

Monique Lhuillier Runway Show April 2007

The Spring 2008 Monique Lhuillier collection created a soft, feather weight and luminous look for the season. Monique Lhuillier states "The beauty surrounding me in the Tuilleries Gardens in Paris inspired romance in the crisp air. I wanted to bring back the excitement in Bridal Couture using hand made techniques. Caging flowers on corsets, twisting and fraying silk tulles and organzas...Misty grey shades and ombres helped create an overall romantic and effortless feeling"

She was filled with much excitement to unveil this collection. Oh to be a bride again...

Monique Lhuillier in the news

Monique Lhuillier Bridal Barbie

Monique Lhuillier teamed up with Mattel to create Bride Barbie. She wanted to create a one of a kind creation for every girl's favorite doll-maker.

Monique's Bride Barbie wears an off white bodice and full tulle skirt with a sable colored sash to accentuate the waist. She wears a rhinestone brooch and diamond stud earrings and ring. This is a modern and contemporary design, similar to her Swan Lake designer gown.

This Barbie is on sale for $140.00 at Monique Lhuillier boutiques and can be purchased online at www.barbiecollector.com.

More news about Monique...

She participated in a benefit for the Asia Society's programs for young Fillipino leadership and cultural diversity education and to Bantay Bata 163's education and care programs for abused children. This was Monique's first Philippine fashion show and was one of the biggest events of the year. The event consisted of a dinner gala show with a bonus, with a performance by none other than Lea Salonga (Monique created her bridal gown as well).

The Big Move!

We are so excited to be heading to Green Hills this weekend. The store is coming along nicely and we should be open by next Tuesday. We highly recommend those coming to see us next week to give us a quick call to confirm the location. The new surroundings are great in the new area with The Perfect Pair, The Dotted Line, Habit, Snap and so much more right there at everyones fingertips. We are sad to leave our wonderful neighbors and friends Big Events and Street Tuxedo but will still be seeing them often!

Our phone number will be new, along with our email address. All this information will be posted on our website at www.thebrideroom.com. We will be sure to let everyone know as soon as possible.

We feel so thankful for this new endeavor! We could not be more appreciative of our past, present and future brides! Please come see us soon at our new address 2209 Bandywood Drive, Nashville, TN 37215.

Be on the lookout for our announcement of our Grand Opening Event coming up in April!!!
